Answer to the frequently asked question: What Do I Do When My Rivet Mandrel Jams in My POP Tool? – When installing a lot of aluminum rivets and you notice that the tool is slipping and not pulling the rivets, or the mandrels are jammed in the rivet gun nose piece and you cannot insert the next rivet, oftentimes it is a simple matter of removing the nose housing and cleaning out the shavings with a long skinny screwdriver. When shavings accumulate and become impacted behind the nose tip, the rivet gun jaws end up closing and sitting against the shavings rather than resting against the nose tip.
You can see this by holding your POP power tool up to a light – if you see a perfect circle, the jaws are resting against the nose tip in the proper position. If you see a ‘football shape,’ there is a build-up of shavings and a thorough cleaning is in order and you may need professional rivet gun repair services!
